Software License

Our software is sold as a permanent license to run the version purchased and any subsequent versions that are downloaded after registering for the free 1 year updates at www.dpsoftware.com/register.

In addition the license will be extended to any versions downloaded after paying for any relevant extensions to the 1 year period by means of additional years or annual subscriptions.

On purchase of a relevant Lifetime update package, the license will be extended to any version downloaded at any time.

Restrictions

The registered user may install on up to 3 machines at a time provided they are not being used at the same time by different people.

DP Software may use various means to determine when license conditions are being abused and may terminate serial numbers where it believes they have been copied, uploaded or otherwise shared with those not entitled to run the software.

Delivery

Software products that are purchased for download are available to download from our reseller for an initial period of 7 days. It is recommended that a backup copy is made to ensure it can be re-installed at a later date.

The same license key is used for subsequent installations and should also be kept safely.

After registration with DP Software, the latest version can be downloaded from our registered users site up to 1 year from purchase. This period can be extended by purchasing a subscription or lifetime updates.

If requiring a download after the expiry of the free or paid update period, please contact DP Software for a permanent link to an older version you are entitle to. This may not be exactly the same version you had previously.

Lost unlock codes

If you lose your unlock code for a download purchase, please contact DP Software to retrieve it.

Bugs

No software product can be totally free of bugs however we do try to correct any that are reported very quickly. Often an update is available in a few days. We are only able to supply bug fixes as new versions and so they are only available during the free 1 year update period or with a current update subscription or having purchased lifetime updates.

No trial periods

All our software sales are final. We do not have trial periods but there is a demo version that is freely available to determine if a product meets your needs. The demo cannot save files or print anything it creates but it is possible to print and export the sample design in order to test that part of the software.

Please note that the demo cannot be enabled as a full version so it is necessary to install from the link you get after purchase even if you have the demo installed.

Request new features

Whilst we cannot guarantee to create your ideal software, we welcome suggestions for new features. If you want something to work slightly differently, it is often possible to add a new setting.

New Platforms

As of September 2024 we have Windows and MacOS available. Both iPad and Android are planned but have no release dates yet. The software needs to be purchased separately for each platform (except our Mac/Windows bundles) and may have different features on different platforms. In the case of iPad, it will be necessary to purchase through the Apple App store as it is a closed platform.

Code signing

It is our policy to sign all software with a code signing certificate so that you know the software is in its original unmodified form. This is important to ensure no hackers have added their mallicious code since we published it. Most operating systems will notify you if there is no valid signature when you try to install. For Windows, we use a signing certificate that uses facial ID to prevent anyone else using it. For MacOS we use the notarizing service from Apple where the package is uploaded to Apple for checks before being approved and returned with the certificate which is then "stapled" to the package file. In both cases, any changes to the file renders the certificate invalid. A timestamp service is used to ensure that the certificate remains valid for that file even after the normal expiry of the certificate.

False warnings on Windows

Despite signing with a code certificate, it is still possible for Windows to issue warnings that a downloaded file might damage your machine. In this case, you can look at the certificate to see that it is signed by DP Software and continue with the installation. They seem to require a certain number of users of their own security software to be using the software before it is marked as safe. As we update versions regularly, this makes it difficult to get the required number. Of course if you are a big company, you can afford to pay to override these requirements with an even more expensive certificate !

Boxed versions

DP Software no longer sells boxed versions direct to end users but they are still available to retailers and distributors so you may see them offered for sale. There is generally no difference between the downloaded version and the boxed version except for price and all the same registered user updates and subscriptions apply. Most boxed versions come with either a printed English or German manual. In Norway and Denmark the Standard version is available with pdf manual under the name "Broderie" which can still be upgraded to Plus and Publisher versions from DP Software. Sellers are able to set their own prices for boxed versions.

Charging of tax

For downloaded software, tax is added by our reseller according to your location and the relevant tax laws there. Some countries / states have no tax, some use the same tax rate as physical goods and others may have special tax rates.

Our reseller adds the tax and distributes it to the relevant authorities in each country. DP Software does not receive any of the tax you are charged. If you are business that can purchase tax excempt then you should add your tax number at the checkout.

By law, tax rates on digital downloads are charged according to the customers location and not that of the vendor.

Refund policy

Software that has been purchased and downloaded is not normally eligible for refund unless applicable law states that you are entitled to one. In the event you feel the product is mis-described, you should contact DP Software in the first instance with details of your claim.

A renewal of annual update subscription can be cancelled for full refund up to 30 days after the transaction has taken place. This is to give additional time in case you intended to cancel.

Please contact DP Software in all cases that a charge has already been made. If your subscription has not yet renewed, you can also cancel direct with our reseller FastSpring. You should be sent an email with details of a pending renewal.

If your purchase was not through FastSpring but with our previous payment provider, you can cancel subscriptions either with DP Software or in response to your renewal email.
